About Transcribr

We built the transcription tool we wanted to use.

Sydney-built, globally useful. No per-seat tax, no editor we'll never use, no separate subscription for show notes. Just a clean transcript at a fair per-minute price — and the same price on the API.

The story

Transcribr started because I got the same invoice three months in a row from a transcription tool I used for about an hour each week, and I finally noticed.

The audio-to-text problem has been mostly-solved for a while now — the engines are commoditised, accuracy is in the 90s, diarization is good enough to publish without re-listening to the file. But every product I tried bundled it with something I didn't want: a meeting bot, a video editor, a separate show-notes-as-a-service tab. And every product I tried priced itself per seat, which means the bigger your team, the more you pay for the same minutes.

So I built the version I wanted: file-first, one credit pool that the whole team shares, and the same per-minute rate whether you're using the dashboard or hitting the API from a script.

Transcribr Pty Ltd is incorporated in Sydney, NSW, Australia, and audio is processed in Sydney by default. We don't train models on your data, we delete audio in a window you control, and we publish a current sub-processor list rather than asking you to email us for it.

What we believe

Four things, repeated until they're obvious.

Pay-per-use beats per-seat.

If your team transcribes 12 hours one month and 0 the next, your bill should reflect that. Subscriptions are an option, not the default.

Your audio is yours.

No model training on customer data, ever. Configurable retention from 1 day to indefinite, applied at the file level. Same in our Terms as in our marketing.

The API is the product.

Same per-minute rate as the dashboard, no enterprise gate. If you want to wire transcription into your own tool, that's a feature, not an upsell.

Honest comparisons.

Our /compare pages tell you where competitors still beat us. We'd rather you pick the right tool than churn out the door because we oversold ourselves.
